I have long been fascinated and inspired by the natural process of time upon things, the beautiful unique marks and colours created by age and weathering, and the inherent relationship between strength and fragility. In my delicate pieces I seek to capture something of this process particularly when expressed in the beauty, quietness and power of rock and stone.

I throw delicate, light forms with rough surfaces which I then work on by pinching, adding to and altering, sometimes to the point of creating cracks and fissures. I have developed a technique of applying oxides and glazes which recreates the markings of age and weathering with a depth, texture, and unpredictable beauty in the outcome that I love.

Each piece is unique, a one-off to be enjoyed for itself.
